We support the communities in which we work because they are also our homes.
Our support is reflected in the many initiatives we are a part of, such as: Drug Awareness, Do Not Drink and Drive, Ask Wellness, Nicola Valley & District Food Bank, Merritt Soup Kitchen, and Nicole Family Therapy. We also back the local and longest-running British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) franchise of the Merritt Centennials.
A core part of our commitment to sustainability is planning for the future of our communities. We provide students with educational scholarships to post-secondary programs as well as opportunities for educational primary and secondary school forest-based activities throughout the year.
Over years of working collaboratively with many First Nations bands and organizations, we have developed relationships based on respect and support. Our Cooperative Forest Management Agreements, which encourage First Nations participation, were developed with the input of many First Nations communities. As a member of the Nicola Similkameen Innovative Forestry Society, we have been able to encourage cooperative First Nations management in the forest industry.
